1. Sonic Utopia for Windows
Free 3D Sonic game
Sonic Utopia is an adventure PC game developed by Mr. Lange that features Sonic the Hedgehog. This free-to-play game imagines the most famous hedgehog in an open-world setting. Here, you will control Sonic as he moves past various obstacles at supersonic speed.
Sonic Utopia is a fan-made game. Unlike other Sonic titles, it puts players in a completely three-dimensional environment. Despite that, however, it maintains the fidelity to classic scenes from the 8-bit console era. All the elements of Sonic: the Hedgehog are also present. This game is still in the raw demo stage so expect a short run time.
What is Sonic Utopia?
Creating a modern Sonic Game has been a challenge for developers. No matter how hard they tried, no title has managed to match the love that the '90's platformers gained. Games, such as Sonic Generations, were decent, but they were pretty average. Sonic Utopia is a game that looks to fix the problems that 3D Sonic games have. Here, players have an open world to run, jump, and go through.
The map is fully 3D with all the elements that fans loved about Sonic: the Hedgehog. Everything will be nostalgic, from the insane looping and vegetation of the scenery to the enemies and music. Like a proper Sonic game, there will be platforming, although it looks more like high-speed parkour. It even emulates the multiple paths through levels, allowing players to choose the path they want to take.
To control Sonic, you use the keyboard in a simple way. The directional arrows move Sonic while the space bar allows him to jump. To accumulate momentum to go off the scene, hold the Shift key, and then release. As mentioned, Sonic Utopia is still under development. It is a far cry from an actual finished game. You can play the demo version but expect a short session.
Is the game good?
Sonic Utopia is the modern Sonic game that fans have been waiting for all along. This game managed to expand the classic gameplay in a 3D, intuitive way. It also captured the best of Sonic's style and remained faithful to the scenes of the well-loved '90s titles. It is still a demo game, however, so it will be short. Nevertheless, it will have you excited for the full release.
2. The Interview for Windows
Nail your creepy job interview
The Interview is a free first-person adventure video game wherein you must successfully complete your interview at a strange company. Developed by Geoff Alday, this 3D indie horror game is a creepy mockumentary on corporate life. It’s a short game that can be completed in under 30 minutes but the delivery of the unsettling atmosphere is done decently enough. It also has random hilarious parts that actually heighten your wariness as you progress.
Definitely not a suspicious company
In The Interview, you play as a hopeful job applicant who arrives at an interview in a strangely-rundown company. The road to completing the interview and the various challenges posed to you is peculiar and often filled with either quiet jumpscares or bleak office quotes framed on the walls. Your goal is to land that job offer—however, you can also change your mind and turn it down near the end.
This game can be played with just your keyboard and mouse. The W, A, S, and D keys are for walking and you must press Shift to run. Meanwhile, interacting with objects and dialogue choices requires the left mouse button. To pause the game, simply press Escape. The gameplay isn’t really taxing most of the time as you’ll just be exploring, doing a bit of puzzle-solving, and answering questions.
However, while the game is creepy enough despite its short length, it feels like there’s too little that's set up for the ending. The game is highly linear even with the different dialogue options you can choose. There’s only one ending scenario, even if you decline the job offer, so there’s not much replay value here. The tense and gloomy atmosphere is great but it lacks substance sometimes and can feel too short.
Needs a little more oomph
All in all, The Interview is a nice little psychological horror indie game if you want something that mixes fear and dark humor in one go. While it doesn’t fully scratch that horror itch with the small number of jumpscares and creepy scenarios, it does well enough for a short stint and has the potential for improvement and expansions. However, if you’re looking for a more impactful horror experience, this isn’t a recommendation.
3. The Tricky Mod - Friday Night Funkin' for Windows
Free popular mod for FNF
The Tricky Mod for Friday Night Funkin’ is a free modification that was made by the members of the Friday Night Funkin’ community. The Tricky Mod lets you challenge Tricky the Clown in a musical battle. The Tricky Mod is only available in the single-player mode.
While most of the gameplay remains the same across the mods, the characters, music, and scenery changes. Additional mods for Friday Night Funkin’ include Friday Night Fever, V.S. Whitty, Smoke ‘Em Out Struggle, V.S. Sky, Sunday, and V.S. Nonsense. The original FNF has a simple storyline, that each of the mods adds to.
What is Tricky from FNF?
Since the original Friday Night Funkin’ is free and open-source, players that can code develop modifications to customize the gaming experience. The Tricky Mod is a well-known mod that gives you additional battles with Tricky the Clown during four distinct rounds. Tricky the Clown shapeshifts as the battle progresses.
A fair warning is due since the game has intense visuals. Tricky the Clown can be scary to look at, especially for children. Gun violence is another unfortunate factor that the Tricky Mod includes. Girlfriend is shown tied up while still smiling in the third round, which is an insensitive addition.
If you can mentally acknowledge and simultaneously look past the surrealistic design and storyline, then the Tricky Mod is entertaining to play. The Tricky Mod user interface reverses the position of the arrows and health bar, compared to the original edition. The mod adds statistics like an accuracy percentage to involve the players even further.
The health meter functions in the same manner as the original FNF bar does. A green bar with a lever on the left side is a signal that you are winning at that moment. The arrows enter from the top of the screen in the Tricky Mod, instead of from the bottom like in the original game.
The Tricky Mod changes a few gameplay rules. Arrows with flames and halos damage your health, which means that to stay healthy you need to intentionally not hit those keys. The HP Gremlin is an NPC that brings your health down when around. Your view will get blocked when stop signs appear.
Who is Tricky FNF?
While Boyfriend and Girlfriend remain the same as in the original FNF version, the Tricky Mod pits the boyfriend up against a shape-shifting character, known as Tricky. Tricky is a monster that comes from the well-known series called ‘Madness Combat.'
The Tricky Mod includes cut scenes that can further engage players. The game starts with a text to let you know that you are in Nevada. Tricky the Clown then emerges from the rock to join you in a battle.
Tricky the Clown looks ghastly with a dark mask on during the ‘Improbable Outset’ battle, and his appearance does not get better during the next rounds either. The mask gets taken off in a violent cut scene to reveal his clown-like appearance for the ‘Madness’ round.
Tricky stays true to his name when he transforms into an entirely new look that is filled with fire during the ‘Hellclown’ round. Tricky becomes a skeleton figure during the ‘Expurgation’ rap battle.
Is Friday Night Funkin’ on mobile?
The Tricky Mod for Friday Night Funkin’ is not available on mobile phones. The Tricky Mod FNF is only available on desktop computers and laptops for Windows, Mac, and Linux devices. Since the original developers of FNF received funding to continue the game development, a console and handheld version may become available.
This mod was created by Banbuds, Rozebud, KadeDev, and Cval. Moro, Jads, YinYanh, and Tsuraran contributed to the development as well.
A wild ride and battle
The Tricky Mod is one of the many Friday Night Funkin’ mods to include cut scenes that give more context to the gaming experience. While the game mechanics are like the original, the Tricky Mod introduces new elements that you get to learn, like special effect arrows, stop signs and gremlins. The Tricky Mod for FNF can be considered inappropriate due to the violence that is present.
What is new?
The Tricky Mod has a team of passionate developers that keep the mod up to date. The developers are creating new levels, which are known as weeks. The updates will include new battles for you to play.
4. I Am Fish for Windows
The ocean beckons me in this challenging game
I Am Fish is a hilarious adventure video game wherein you must help fishes escape their bowls and reach the ocean. Developed by Bossa Studios, this 3D physics-based simulation game is a wacky platformer that has you rolling containers full of water into dangerous paths just to free a fish.
As the spiritual successor and sequel to I Am Bread, I Am Fish is all about trying to stay alive while using only half-responsive controls. As such, it can be as rage-inducing and frustrating as brutal platformers like Cuphead. However, it’s still forgiving enough to encourage you to try again.
How many levels are in I Am Fish?
In I Am Fish, you get to play as four different types of fish, who are friends who’ve been forcibly separated from their home in a pet shop fish tank. They all decide to try and escape back into the ocean to hopefully reunite. However, they’re all trapped inside fragile fishbowls and the way to the sea is filled with hazardous obstacles—and they can’t exactly breathe air for long, too.
The gameplay consists of manually controlling a fish in the water. There are four controls: movement, camera panning, and swimming up and down. When freely swimming, you can do cool tricks such as jumping through the air. However, you’ll mostly be stuck on something with water in it, like a fishbowl, a glass jar, and even a cleaning cart used by janitors. You need to carefully move around to survive.
This is where this game’s intentional general difficulty comes in. You must control your container’s momentum as you swim. They come with limits, though, such as the jar only being able to roll back and forth. Plus, glass breaks—leaving you to die. It helps that three of the playable fish have special abilities for traversing areas. However, the game’s still pretty hard and you have 13 main levels to complete.
Being a fish is hard
All in all, I Am Fish is a challenging physics-based platformer but it can still be a rewarding experience. The difficulty here is comprised of dangerous moving objects, fatal heights, and even spots where it’s easy to get stuck on. The game’s cute 3D graphics and hilarious gameplay and cutscenes more than make up for the stress you’ll be going through, though.
5. Axie Infinity for Windows
Pokémon-like crypto adventure game
Axie Infinity is an online adventure game where players can collect tokens and earn cryptocurrency by breeding, battling, and trading their digital pets called Axies. The game also welcomes community developers to build their own tools in the Axie Infinity universe by accessing their art assets and genetic data.
The developer, Sky Mavis, created this game in a “play to earn” system, where players can access the Blockchain economy through the virtual world and own digital property rights. This game has also become a platform for jobs and social networking because of the strong income opportunities its players can enjoy. Moreover, it is also Windows 11 compatible.
How does Axie Infinity work?
Axie Infinity uses a Blockchain economic design to reward players for their contributions to the community. The game lets players earn in four ways. First, you can earn by breeding Axies and selling them on the marketplace. You can also farm for love potions needed to breed Axies and sell them on Uniswap and Binance. Another way would be to collect and speculate on rare Axies called Mystics and Origins.
The most fun way to earn, though, is by winning leaderboard prizes by competing in PvP battles. On top of that, quests similar to Ready Player One emerge to let players earn a part of the open-ended universe. However, instead of a winner-takes-all concept, players are rewarded individually based on their skills and effort. The reward is a governance token called AXS, which represents your rights and fee-sharing.
Now, since the game is crypto-based, players need to open crypto wallets to deposit funds, access the marketplace, and earn rewards. These are necessary so that players can make transactions through the Axie Infinity website. However, there are no definite standards that determine the value of an Axie. So, it comes down to a player’s judgment if an Axie is worth its price.
Fun and profitable
Overall, Axie Infinity provides numerous opportunities for players to enjoy a game and earn money at the same time. With the game’s unique economic design, earning methods, and challenging quests, it is one of the most enjoyable “jobs” anyone could get. As soon as you get past the crypto barrier and all its requirements, you can start buying, breeding, and selling.
6. Dead Dating for Windows
Dead Dating - A Walking Dead Dating Game Review
Dead Dating is a dating simulation game developed by FYM Gamers, who are known for their Dead Trigger series. Developed by Chunsoft, Dead Dating basically describes itself as a fun, summer-themed, dating game where you, as one of many competing singles, have to find out who the mysterious "dead" is before you can proceed to the next level of the game. You'll have to use the various tools (such as the ability to hypnotize others) that are found on the game's interface in order to figure out exactly what the game is about.
There are a number of things that make this game very different from the other games that have been released in regards to its genre, namely the story, the characters, and the overall concept. One thing that is different in this game is the background music, which is composed of piano music. Another interesting thing about this game is that, after you have figured out who the killer is, you then have to try and figure out if you can trust him or not. There are various clues throughout the game that will give you hints as to how to proceed, but again, there is a lot of mystery surrounding the actual story. This is an adventure dating sim where you are required to use your brain rather than your heart when it comes to matters of love and romance.
At the time of this writing, the game has not yet released on any major gaming platform. However, it is available on a number of different websites across the internet, and a copy of the game can be obtained for free. A copy of Dead Dating can be obtained by downloading from a number of different websites on the internet, including Gamefly, Sony PlayStation Network, and a variety of different sites on the internet. 8. BALAN WONDERWORLD for Windows
Theatrical action-platformer game
BALAN WONDERWORLD is an action platformer from Square Enix themed around the Balan Theatre. It stars Emma and Leo, together with the enigmatic maestro named Balan, will go on an adventure in the bizarre and imaginary land of Wonderworld. There are twelve tales to explore, each with its unique quirks. To survive, they will need to use special abilities from a multitude of costumes. This is just a demo of the full BALAN WONDERWORLD game, so expect a short game runtime.
One-button action-adventure game
The first thing that you should know about BALAN WONDERWORLD is that it is a simple game. It is so simple, in fact, that it only needs one button to play. You can press any button to make the characters move—jump or use whatever skills associated with the costumes your character is wearing. With this, you don’t have to familiarize yourself with various combos or control schemes.
This game is also heavily centered on the costumes. The stars of the game can use powers by donning costumes they collect along the way. There are more than 80 different costumes, each with its own special ability. Do note that you can only use the ability of the costume that you are wearing. You can carry and cycle through up to three costumes at once, and you will lose that costume if you take damage.
Level-wise, the game showcase a decent lineup—considering it is a demo game. Although compact compared to other action-adventure games, they still encourage exploration with rewards scattered throughout the stage. However, you cannot reach some level without the right suit for the job. With this, you will have to double back to the previous levels to collect it. More so, the enemies are sparse and easy to eliminate. This lack of difficulty makes for a leisurely experience.
Is the game worth it?
BALAN WONDERWORLD is worth checking out if you're into exploration games. It introduces a theatrical world that is breathtaking. Each of the stages features a mesmerizing quality and has a bit of visual magic to it. However, while it boasts great visuals, the same cannot be said to its gameplay. The entire game toe the line of generic, with its simple controls and lackluster levels. Players can only hope for a better offering with its final release.
9. Dark Hotel for Windows
Atmospheric survival horror for PC
Dark Hotel is a free adventure game for PC developed by indie developer Codeless Man Games. In this first-person survival horror, players will find themselves alone inside a dark and eerie hotel, and they must figure a way out while trying to avoid a mysterious presence that grows ever closer.
Dark Hotel comes across as being quite similar to Dark Deception or Type to Continue in terms of overall feel and presentation. The game was made using the Unreal Engine, though, and it definitely shows in the detailed rooms and hallway that players will explore.
What is it about?
Dark Hotel is a short survival horror game played in the first-person perspective. In it, you wake up in a hotel that has been seemingly abandoned. Armed with just a flashlight and very little lighting around, you will need to figure things out as you explore the dark and barely visible hallway and rooms, and find a way out. You’re not alone, though.
You realize there is a haunting presence creeping ever closer to you. Your situation now becomes a race for your survival and against time. When it comes to controlling your character, you’ll be using keyboard and mouse. Your WASD keys will be used for movement, while your Left Mouse button is for interacting with objects and such. Click your Scroll Wheel button to zoom in and get a better perspective.
For better immersion, the game's sound effects were also designed using Audacity, a robust and full-fledged open-source audio recorder and editor. Make sure to wear headphones for the best experience possible. As mentioned earlier, Dark Hotel is a short game, clocking in at around 10 minutes to finish, which some players will find to be a rather short runtime. There are also plenty of jump scares, so proceed with caution.
Short but memorable
All in all, Dark Hotel is a good survival horror game. The spooky and atmospheric vibe is spot on, the graphics look great, and the expertly created sound effect rounds out the unique experience. Admittedly, the entire playthrough is quite short, but if you have some time to spare, this one is worth checking out and playing.
10. Hytale for Windows
Free sandbox RPG game

The devs made sure that Hytale strays away from Minecraft as possible; It boasts a number of unique features including community servers, minigames, modding tools, and screen sharing capabilities.
Is Hytale like Minecraft?
Hytale blends the vast, interactive world of sandbox gaming with the thoughtfulness of role-playing games, resulting in procedurally-generated towers and dungeons. Entry to these places can be dangerous, as you're going to have to head-to-head with other players and bosses. The world of Hytale hosts big and tiny animals, from scurrying critters to massive monsters. Each zone has its own unique ecosystem, with deadly creatures standing watch over the most powerful armor in the game.
The game supports a variety of diverse styles of play. Adventure mode is entirely playable in co-op mode. You can enter either as a single-player or with a friend in multiplayer mode through Hytale's numerous multiplayer servers available to you. When you’re not in battle, you can customize your own environment with world editing and cinematic tools that are available at your disposal. Put down roots in any of Hytale’s beautiful biomes. Grow your own crops, take care of your pets, tame mounts, and set about building boats and other vehicles to help you explore. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to be creative whether you choose to build a cottage or a castle.
Immersive adventure game
Hytale is a suitable game for fans of fantasy and adventure games. While the game appears similar to a world-building game, the mechanics are completely different. Here, you’re the protagonist of your own story and kingdom. There are still aspects wherein you will customize your environment, but the main focus of this game is creating a good strategy and working with others. Overall, it’s a good game for casual gamers.
